Maine’s Welcome Back Center

The New Mainers Resource Center is part of the Welcome Back Initiative, a national network with a mission to build a bridge between the pool of internationally trained health workers already living in the United States and the need for linguistically and culturally competent health services in underserved communities.

Thanks to the help and support of the Betterment Foundation, we provide orientation, counseling, and support to foreign-trained health workers. We assist them in developing a career pathway plan that builds on their education, experience, and skills. In addition to receiving support in obtaining appropriate professional credentials and licenses for their profession, we also assist them to explore relevant educational programs, job and volunteer opportunities, and alternative career options.

The Welcome Back Initiative has a dozen centers from Coast to Coast and years of experience working with foreign trained health professionals. The NMRC benefits from the expertise and resources of this program as we seek to better serve foreign trained health professionals in Maine.
